President Aoun: We will fight all forms of corruption during elections

President Michel Aoun praised on Wednesday the European Union's response to Lebanon's call to have an EU mission supervise the impending parliamentary polls set on May 6.

Aoun’s comments were made during a meeting with head of the European Union Election Observation Missions (EUEOMs) Helena Valenciano, who visited him with members of the mission and European Union Ambassador to Lebanon Christina Lassen.

"Lebanon looks forward that parliamentary elections will be an accurate expression of the Lebanese people's desire to practice democracy and freedom and to determine their choices with freedom and conviction, especially that the new vote law will be applied for the first time in Lebanon,” Aoun noted.

"The state will fight all forms of corruption during elections which requires cooperation between the security and judicial apparatuses from one side and between the citizens from another side," he added.
