Jumblatt meets with Hariri, discusses the party’s right to a political and popular representation

Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblatt said Wednesday that "there is no country where an official declares that said country is on the verge of economic collapse," noting that manipulating the people in an attempt to undermine the Lebanese economy is very dangerous.

Following his meeting with Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri at Beit al-Wasat, Jumblatt said that Governor of Banque Du Liban Riad Salameh is being attacked, “because some of the people in power want to replace him.”

The former MP advised caretaker Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil to not interfere in the economy, “so that he does not destroy it.”

On the cabinet formation issue, Jumblatt said that Hariri has been doing his best to find the appropriate formula in this regard, adding that he discussed with Hariri the party’s political and popular right to representation.

He also revealed that President Michel Aoun asked him if there was a possibility to change the balance regarding the Druze share, and he told him that he will not make any compromise like before.
