Further rationing to hit power supply as government fails to secure fuel

Everyone who signed on the decree pertaining to a treasury advance in favor of Electricite du Liban, which amounts to LBP 642 billion, aimed at buying fuel to operate the power plants and power ships, were aware that cashing such an advance requires a law to be passed by the parliament.

 

Caretaker Energy Minister Cesar Abi Khalil had received a promise that a legislative session will be held between 22 and 25 of October, during which said law will be passed. However, the session was not held due to the developments in the cabinet formation process.
