Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai welcomed Wednesday Marada Movement chief Sleiman Frangieh and Lebanese Forces chief Samir Geagea in Bkerke where they held the reconciliation meeting, ending 40 years of enmity.
“We are against the notion of 'duets' and 'tripartites'. We believe in a single duality that is between the Christian and Muslim wings of Lebanon,” Rai said during the meeting, adding that this move comes to complete a previous reconciliation that took place in 2011 between two other parties.
“We renew today our confirmation of the reconciliation and we move forward together; we stand by the Lebanese people and the state’s institutions,” he stated.
