ISF to resume destruction of cannabis crops in the Bekaa

Land owners wrecked on Monday agriculture tractors destroying cannabis crops in Buday and sabotaged those in Hawsh Barada.

The ISF narcotics burn unit left the region of Buday and is expected to resume the destruction of cannabis crops in the entire Bekaa region at a later time. The ISF, helped by the LAF, were destroying cannabis crops in the Bekaa on Monday under sporadic gunfire from Buday’s mountainous area, after unidentified gunmen opened fire using mortar shells and machine guns at the Buday town’s plains in the Bekaa in earlier in the morning.

The ISF responded with heavy arms to the sources of gunfire and forcing the retreat of the gunmen.

Later in the day, an ISF member was reported as slightly injured following gunfire which targeted his ISF vehicle. The aforementioned member received gun wounds to his back although he was wearing a protective vest.

Meanwhile, the Buday road was cut off in protest of the destruction of the cannabis fields.

The LAF had earlier reopened the Charawina -Tal al-Abyad road in Baalbek after it was blocked also in protest of the cannabis destruction.
