Zasypkin from Bkerke: We will work to achieve return of Syrian displaced

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Rai met on Tuesday with Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin at Bkerke.

Talks reportedly featured high over a number of topics, mainly the bilateral relations and the International and regional developments.

Following the meeting, Zasypkin said "work will be done to achieve the return of the Syrian displaced in cooperation with the Syrian authorities and everyone who can help,” adding that this issue is not linked to a political settlement in Syria.

“We prefer to work according to an ongoing and a long-term plan," he added.

Zasypkin called on "all other parties to actively participate to secure return."

“In this case, any Western or Gulf sides joining this process without political preconditions would be better for everyone, because this issue is only humanitarian,” he stressed.
