Jumblatt to ABC: Lebanon is on brink of economic collapse, needs technocrats
Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblatt voiced hopes on Wednesday to see the protesters in Lebanon succeed in their mission.
“During my 40-year career in politics, this is the first time in Lebanon’s history that such a revolution has taken place away from sectarianism,” Jumblatt said during an interview with The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).
“I am not an angel, but I am at the end of my political life and I have to give a message of hope to the new generation,” he noted.
On another note, Jumblatt said that the country is on the brink of an economic collapse, stressing need to technocrats who are “competent and impartial with portfolios of key ministries such as finance, economy and others."
