Haroun: We are on the verge of a major health catastrophe
Syndicate of Hospitals in Lebanon President Suleiman Haroun said on Friday that the country is on the verge of a major health catastrophe.

Haroun’s comments were made during a press conference whereby he said that hospitals are unable to pay importers of medicines and medical supplies.

“Therefore, we will no longer be able to provide treatment for patients because the current stock is enough for a period not exceeding one month,” he added.

Haroun also noted that patients “might die because of a lack of filters, for example.”

He called during his press conference for the immediate payment of dues to doctors and hospitals and urged banks to facilitate the financial transactions.

Haroun concluded by saying that if their demands are not met, hospitals will stop on November 15 receiving patients except for emergencies as well as dialysis and chemotherapy patients.
