Hariri accuses Hezbollah of sending fighters to Syria

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri accused Hezbollah of sending fighters into Syria to participate in the regime's crackdown over protesters, calling on the international community to provide Syrian rebels with weapons.

"Today, there is a balance of power between the government and the opposition, although the latter has no sophisticated arms. If it is given the weapons it needs, the opposition can easily win", Hariri said in an interview with Le Monde on Wednesday.

"There is a debate today on buffer zones which supposedly cannot be established without the consent of the U.N. If France encourages its allies to give the Syrian opposition what it needs, the opposition will be able to establish the buffer zones itself", he added.

Hariri stressed that he will participate in the upcoming parliamentary elections, adding that he will win "if the electoral process is not rigged."
