Italy's Deputy Foreign Minister leaves Lebanon

The Italian Deputy Defense Minister Gianluigi Magri left Lebanon after a short visit that lasted for a few hours where he visited the UNIFIL'S Italian contingent working in the South.

Magri said from Beirut Airport on his way back to his homeland that the UNIFIL's mission is very important to Italy since more than 1100 Italian soldiers are part of the force, especially that the UNIFIL Force Commander Major-General Paolo Serra is an Italian national.

When asked about Italy's position from the Syrian crisis, Magri said: "I don't expect any changes on the short term." "Diplomatic efforts might be fruitful and there are several steps that will be taken to put an end to the crisis," he added.
