Lasa residents reopen Mayrouba-Hrajel rd, promise escalatory measures

 
A statement was issued by various officials in Hrajel on Saturday calling for the maintenance of peace and stressing that Hrajel residents are not sectarian.    The officials added that they will be offering help to hand over the suspect Anthony Khalil.                 

For his part, Former MP Farid Haykal Khazen condemned the crime and said that they refuse lauding responsibility on the entire region.                    

“Keserwan residents are not covering on a criminal, and we call on the security forces to carry out their duties,” Khazen said.                        

Earlier, Lasa residents reopened the main road of Mayrouba-Hrajel, after blocking it for almost half an hour, demanding the handover of Anthony Khalil who is accused of killing 2 members from the Saif Eddine family.                      

The residents warned of sectarian clashes if attempts to cover up on the assailant continue and assured that they will be taking escalatory measure if he were not handed over to the judicial authority.                  

Lasa residents called for keeping the issue as a personal dispute and stressed that they have the ability to reach for Anthony Khalil, but they are keeping the issue for the judicial authority.                              

On Thursday, LAF soldier Hadi Seif Eddine and his father Ghassan Seif Eddine who hail from the town of Lasa were killed in a personal dispute in the town of Wata El Joz in Keserwan.                                          

In the details, a verbal bout erupted between Hadi, his father and a truck driver. The verbal clash quickly evolved to gunfire exchange.                                             

The two bodies were subsequently transferred to the St. George Hospital in Ajaltoun.                                                         

In this context, the Internal Security Forces (ISF) announced that upon the request of the concerned judicial authorities, they are searching for the suspect.
                               
Security forces called on all citizens who have information on the whereabouts of Khalil to call the nearest ISF department or call 112.
