REPORT: Bassil: Extracting oil will boost Lebanon’s economy

Caretaker Energy and Water Minister Gebran Bassil said on Sunday that Lebanon will have an abundance of money when it starts extracting oil, noting that the revenues of this project will go to an investment fund.

During a ceremony to launch the works in the Janna dam project, Bassil noted that the dam will cost USD 250 million, stressing that this project will help producing electricity once the works end in 2017.

In this context, the caretaker minister said that the dam will also provide the regions of Beirut and Jbeil with water, pointing out that it is the second in size in Lebanon after Qaraoun dam.
