Trump after Netanyahu, Hezbollah calls: no troops going to Beirut

U.S. President Donald Trump said he held a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he said they agreed that no troops would be sent to Beirut and that any units en route had been turned back.

In a statement posted Monday, Trump also said he had spoken, through what he described as “highly placed representatives,” with Hezbollah, and that both sides agreed to halt hostilities.

“They agreed that all shooting will stop — that Israel will not attack them, and they will not attack Israel,” Trump said.
