Abiad: What measures will be adopted now to protect the public?
Lebanon News
Director of the Rafic Hariri University Hospital Firas Abiad said on Wednesday that new Covid-19 variants arriving through the airport are considered “collateral damage, regrettable but unavoidable.”

“During a financial crisis, expats and tourists “bring in much needed hard currency, we are told,” he added in a series of tweet.

Abiad also noted that “a similar advice was given last summer and before Christmas.”

“No one quantified the economic impact of the resultant loss of lives or illness,” he ent on by saying.

“When people have short term memories, their policy makers tend to set short term goals. As Covid numbers resurge, it awaits to be seen what measures will be adopted now to protect the public,” Abiad stressed.

He noted that policy makers in democracies are held accountable for their decisions at the end, adding however that ordinary people in other systems of governance are the weakest link.

“In such societies, as the Greeks say, the strong do what they can, and the weak suffer what they must,” he concluded by saying.
