Kurds in Lebanon want their leader back
The case of Kurdish militant Abdullah Ocalan, founder of the separatist Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) resurged on Sunday as Kurdish nationals in Lebanon rallied demanding his return. Under the slogan “We want our leader”, the rally kicked off in Karantina and headed to the European Commission in Gemmayze amid tight security measures and procedures to avoid traffic.

Ocalan was arrested by Turkish security forces in Nairobi and taken to Turkey, where he was sentenced to death under Article 125 of the Turkish Penal Code, which concerns the formation of armed gangs. The sentence was commuted to aggravated life imprisonment when Turkey abolished the death penalty in support of its bid to be admitted to membership in the European Union.
