Berri and Mikati address parliament of 128 kids

Addressing the children's parliament on Universal Children's Day, Speaker Nabih Berri advised the children to spearhead the rejection of political confessionalism, to become the vanguards of the people who want to lower the voting age, set a modern electoral law and call for the participation of women in political life.

PM Najib Makati also addressed the 128 children who had occupied the seats of the parliament and told them “the road is bumpy and difficult; neither becoming clients of foreign powers nor being arrogant and stubborn with your peers is beneficial; we must preserve a pluralistic Lebanon at any price”.

“We should cooperate to make dreams come true and make achievements”, he added.

Mikati added that freedom is one of the values that we must stick to, warning the children that their freedom ends where the freedom of others begins.
