REPORT: Lebanon’s national team to reveal the truth on Sunday

The Lebanese national basketball team delayed its return flight from the Philippines until Sunday, and is expected to hold a press conference upon its arrival to Lebanon.            

In this context, the team’s coach Ghassan Sarkis told LBCI that the reason behind the delay is related to logistics, denying that they are still hoping to continue the Asian Championship.               

Sarkis stressed that the national team is not aligned with any party involved in the dispute between the basketball clubs and the union, noting that they will tell the truth when they return to Lebanon and will prove that “the national team is a victim of some people’s 'barbarism'.”            
He added that, as athletes, they will not engage in settlements, stressing the need to reveal the truth to the Lebanese people, regardless of the harm that will be caused. 

                 
On Thursday, the International Basketball Foundation (FIBA) issued a statement whereby it announced that it had officially suspended Lebanon's Basketball membership until all local disputes are completely settled.
