Hezbollah's Nasrallah denies group received chemical weapons from Syria

The Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah delivered a televised speech on Monday evening whereby he tackled the latest political developments in Lebanon and the region.
Sayyed Nasrallah’s speech comes in light of the deployment of security forces in Beirut’s Dahiyeh region.

In his speech, Sayyed Nasrallah hailed the deployment of the security forces in Dahiyeh, calling on all residents to fully cooperate with the security apparatuses.

He also voiced his support to the pleas expressed by Tripoli's leaders, hoping all Lebanese regions "will be protected by the state."

Hezbollah's chief said that he agrees with stances denouncing self-imposed security, adding that the party called on security apparatuses "to assume their responsibilities since the onset."

On the Roueis explosion, Sayyed Nasrallah said that the party clearly determined the identity of those behind the blast.

He accused "Takfiri groups cooperating with the Syrian opposition" of being behind the Roueis explosion.

Sayyed Nasrallah also denied the group had received chemical weapons from Syria, responding to charges leveled by the Syrian opposition.

"This accusation is truly laughable," he said referring to charges that Syria's government had transferred chemical weapons to the group.

The charges hold "dangerous consequences for Lebanon," he said.

On the formation of a new government, Nasrallah said that some parties are holding Hezbollah responsible for the failure to form a new cabinet, adding that the group will take part in dialogue.

“We called for a fair representation of the Lebanese political parties in the government,” he said.

Sayyed Nasrallah also called for a national unity government, noting that some parties should stop betting on international and regional developments.

In this regard, Nasrallah called on Saudi Arabia, the Gulf states and Turkey to reconsider their stances on Syria, lashing out at those who are betting on the ouster of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

Sayyed Nasrallah added that "Bahrain, which labeled Hezbollah as a terrorist organization, had asked for foreign military support to crush the Bahraini revolution".
