Caretaker PM Mikati says Lebanon suffering the most from Syrian refugee crisis

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati reiterated on Friday his call to the International Community to help Lebanon in facing the repercussions of the Syrian refugee crisis.

During his meeting with the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Rajiv Shah, Mikati hoped the US official will relay to the American administration the dangerous repercussions of the Syrian refugees on Lebanon.

“The international community must shoulder its responsibilities towards Lebanon which is suffering more than any other neighboring country from the influx of Syrian refugees,” Mikati said.

Talks were held at the Grand Serail in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon David Hale.

For his part, Shah said US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry have ordered that the US exert efforts to help the Lebanese people and those of the region in addressing the repercussions of the Syrian crisis.
