Sleiman condemns Tyre’s blast from Armenia

President Michel Sleiman said that the goal behind the blast that targeted the UNIFIL is making the French contingent withdraw from Lebanon. He said that France made major sacrifices for Lebanon and world peace; therefore, it will not succumb to these terrorist attacks.          

Following his meeting with the Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan on the second day of his visit to the country, Sleiman assured that the security forces will double their efforts to arrests the perpetrators, punish them, and make sure this does not happen again in the future.           

Sleiman stressed the importance of the options that allow the transition to democratic regimes that are open to modernity and respect the rights of all citizens, away from all forms of discrimination and violence.         

For his part, the Armenian president said that Lebanon has a special role to play for his country that is seeking to establish relations with the Arab world.             

Both the Lebanese and the Armenian presidents held a bilateral summit where they discussed the situation in the region. They exchanged medals and signed bilateral cooperation agreements on the touristic, economic and environmental sectors.
