Geagea: We stick to the State, or we say goodbye to democracy?

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said that the human being does not only live for his profession, but also for freedom which is not just a broad slogan in Lebanon, but an essential and constant principle.

During the “Free profession for a free nation” conference, Geagea said that, in light of the current government, some Lebanese factions are trying to undermine the democratic pillars and walk in the opposite direction to the region’s populations.

Geagea said that the fateful and inhumane circumstances of the region as well as the dangerous violations of freedoms and human rights require that the Lebanese people live up to their historic responsibility and get involved in the enlightenment battle against darkness and the population’s spring versus the dictatorships’ fall.

Geagea stressed that the Lebanese state cannot be independent unless it is surrounded by democratic regimes.

“We either refer to the state or we can bid farewell to both democracy and the state in Lebanon”, he said.
