Judge Saqr files lawsuit against Shamseddine, al-Saghir in case of al-Jadeed crew members

The State Commissioner to the Military Court Judge Saqr Saqr filed a lawsuit on Tuesday against customs Colonel Ibrahim Shamseddine and customs officer Mohammad al-Saghir on charges of using force against al-Jadeed TV crew members.

Judge Saqr referred the file to the first military investigative judge.

On Tuesday November 26, 2013, Al-Jadeed television’s “Tahet Taelat al-Masouliya” crew was beaten outside the Customs headquarters in Downtown Beirut, over an episode on the “corruption at the Lebanese Customs.”

Consequently, crew members Riyad Qobeissi, Adeeb Farhat, Ali Shreim and Ali Khalifeh were arrested by Customs members and referred to the public prosecution then were released around 9 pm.  

Meanwhile, a number of journalists gathered near the Customs headquarters calling for the swift release of the four men while acting General Prosecutor Judge Hammoud said that the detainees will be freed as soon as the coroner issues a report.
