President Michel Sleiman left the Tunisian capital Tunis, on his way back to Beirut, where he was participating in the ceremony held for the new Tunisian Constitution.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Sleiman held a meeting with the French President Francis Hollande, and discussed the bilateral relations between the two countries and mechanisms adopted to implement the financial grant offered by the Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdel Aziz to the Lebanese Armed Forces.
During the meeting, the French president reiterated France’s support to Lebanon, adding that it will deploy efforts in order to equip the Lebanese army with the necessary weapons.
Separately, Sleiman also met with the Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani and tackled the bilateral relations and means to improve it, as well as the regional situation.
For his part, Larijani stressed the importance of Lebanon’s security and stability, especially amid the current critical situation in the Middle East.
