Diplomats ponder aid to Lebanon in Syria's wake
A senior U.S. official says a coalition of international diplomats and bankers will meet over a political and humanitarian crisis looming in Lebanon as it struggles with spillover from the war in neighboring Syria.

Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to attend the meeting of the International Support Group for Lebanon in Paris on March 5.

At a Senate hearing Tuesday, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Lawrence Silverman said the group seeks to promote stability in Lebanon with political and financial support.

The ISG was created last September and Kerry has already pledged more than $100 million for Lebanese communities that are hosting Syrians who have fled their homeland.

The group is made up of diplomats from the United Nations, Arab League, European Union and the World Bank.
