Former singer Fadel Chaker denies arrest of his sister and nephews

Former singer Fadel Chaker denied on Monday to "al-Quds al Arabi" newspaper media reports stating that the Lebanese army arrested his sister and nephews in order to make him surrender.

Chaker's comments were made via his twitter account in which he tweeted that "the regime backing Iran and Hezbollah will be unable to arrest and execute him."

" I will fight for the dignity of Sunnites in Lebanon," he added.

It appeared later that the newspaper quoted a fake twitter account for the former singer.

Last June, a video of former Lebanese singer Fadel Chaker claiming the death of two Lebanese soldiers, following a two-day battle in the southern city of Sidon, went viral on social media platforms.

Shaker, along with 58 others, was handed the death penalty by a Lebanese court for his participation in the battle.
