Sleiman meets with Iranian ambassador, stresses Lebanon keenness on maintaining best relations with Iran

President Michel Sleiman met on Friday with the Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghadanfar Roken Abadi, where they discussed the latest developments related to the meeting of Arab Foreign Ministers in Cairo.

In this context, Sleiman stressed that the stances concerning Iran voiced by Lebanon’s representative at the said meeting do not express the position of the Lebanese state, which is keen on maintaining best relations with Iran on the basis of common interests without interventions in each country’s internal affairs.

Separately, Sleiman also met with former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and member of the policy statement drafting committee, Telecommunications Minister Boutros Harb at the Baabda Presidential Palace, where they tackled the current situation and the latest developments concerning the ongoing discussions over the drafting of the cabinet’s policy statement.

On another note, Sleiman received the head of Parliament's Administration and Justice Committee MP Robert Ghanem and the constitutional expert Hassan al-Rifai, where they looked into the context of the article 64 of the Lebanese Constitution.
