LF leader Geagea: Presidential elections must be internal Lebanese affair

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea stressed on Friday that the presidential elections must be an internal Lebanese affair.

Geagea’s comments were made following a meeting with the committee formed by Speaker Nabih Berri which is tasked to discuss the presidential elections with Lebanese leaders.

The committee includes MPs Ali Ousseiran, Yassine Jaber and Michel Moussa.

Geagea noted that Berri will hold a cabinet’s session to elect a new president after the committee ends its tour on Lebanese leaders, stressing that efforts are deployed to hold the presidential elections on their due time.

President Michel Sleiman's tenure ends in May 2014 but the constitutional period to elect a new head of state begins on March 25.
