Lebanese Forces lose bid to place financial auditor on LBCI, CEO Pierre Daher

The Lebanese Forces lost on Thursday another bid to place a financial auditor to monitor the finances of the Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) and CEO Pierre Daher.

The Lebanese Forces, a political party headed by Samir Geagea, had initiated proceedings claiming ownership of LBCI and alleging criminal violations by Mr. Daher.

The LF founded LBC as a mouthpiece in 1985. Pierre Daher, whose father was a key member of the Kataeb party in north Lebanon, was brought on board at LBC’s inception, shortly after he finished studying Industrial Engineering in California.

When Geagea was jailed and the LF banned from functioning in 1994, the Lebanese Forces’ assets were distributed, with Daher getting LBC.

In a speech following his release from 11 years of imprisonment, Geagea said his party was planning to "reclaim" all of its properties that had been seized during the preceding years of Syrian tutelage.
