Education Minister Bou Saab says upcoming cabinet session will be held Tuesday
Education Minister Elias Bou Saab told LBCI on Saturday that there is no disagreement over starting to hold cabinet sessions, adding however that there are different points of view in this regard.      

The minister also said the upcoming session will be held Tuesday, noting that he, alongside Labor Minister Sajaan Azzi, will not be able to attend since they will be abroad.      

On another note, Bou Saab said the parliament, not the cabinet, is responsible for the series of ranks and salaries, and feared that the Ministry of Education may not be ready to hold Lebanon’s official exams should a solution be brokered on Wednesday.        

“If the concerned authorities fail to find a solution within the next 48 hours, the ministry will face tough choices,” he concluded.      

The Union Coordinating Committee (UCC) announced on Friday a comprehensive open-ended strike at all public institutions, pointing out that teachers will boycott the supervision and correction of official state exams.       

The UCC said in a press conference that the fate of official exams is linked to the dossier of the series of ranks and salaries, calling on all professors to participate in a strike on Monday.       
In the same regard, the UCC stated that various escalatory measures will be adopted, stressing that a demonstration will be held on the 6th of June outside the ministry of education, and another one will be held on the 7th of June outside the Directorate General of Technical & Vocational Education.         

The Union Coordinating Committee resumed its movements a couple of weeks ago calling on the authorities to pass the pay scale, which stipulates a wage hike.
