LAF, UNIFIL intensify patrols along Lebanese-Israeli border

Lebanese Armed Forces along with the United Nations Interim Forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) intensified on Friday their patrols along the Lebanese-Israeli border and inside border villages.

The Lebanese army also intensified its patrols on checkpoints inside the border villages, carrying out identities and papers check procedures amid the absence of any Israeli patrols across the border.

Meanwhile, Israeli reconnaissance planes flew over the Marjeyoun region.

Tensions have been reported in Lebanon's southern border region since the start of an Israeli offensive against Palestinian militants firing rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip.

At least one rocket fired from Lebanon hit northern Israel on Monday and Israel responded by shelling the launch site, the Israeli military and Lebanese security sources said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties from the attack. It was at least the fourth time rockets had been fired from Lebanon since the start of the Israeli offensive against the Gaza Strip.
