Aoun, Iraqi MP discuss repercussions of situation in Iraq
The head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun discussed Saturday the repercussions of the situation in Iraq on the Iraqi Christians and the neighboring countries with the Iraqi MP Aounad Makna, who stressed the need to fight the terrorists and stand in the face of the deadly cross-borders attacks.

In this regard, the Iraqi MP denounced the international silence towards the situation of the Christians in Iraq, noting that 99% of the Christians who left the city of Mosul remain in Iraq.

The Islamic State, which last month declared a “caliphate” straddling large swathes of northern Iraq and Syria, has threatened a Christian presence in the region spanning close to two millennia.

Over the past few weeks, hundreds of families fled Mosul, a once-cosmopolitan city that is the country’s second largest.
