700 counterfeit coins found in trash bags at Charles Helou bus station
A patrol of the Internal Security Forces' Information Bureau arrested on Thursday two Syrian nationals at the Charles Helou bus station after reports revealed plans that they were embarking to sell 700 fake gold liras for the amount of $14,000.

"The Syrians were trying to sell the counterfeit coins to a Lebanese national following a failed attempt to sell them to an Iraqi," said a statement by the ISF General Directorate-Public Relations' Divisions.

The statement also said that no drugs were found in their possession, noting that they confessed to planning this operation.

"Both men revealed the whereabouts of the counterfeit coins they had thrown in trash bags at the Charles Helou bus station," the statement said.

Accordingly, the ISF General Directorate urged all citizens who fell victim to similar acts to head to the office of the financial crimes and money laundering department on Boulevard Camille Chamoun near the Joseph Daher barracks or call the following numbers: 01/290881, 01/293683.
