Residents of Arsal block road in protest of LAF procedures
The state-run national News Agency reported on Wednesday that some residents of the border town of Arsal blocked the town's road next to the medical center.

The move came to protest measures taken by the Lebanese army to ban the transport of gasoline and diesel to Arsal's mountainous region, where militants and gunmen are based.

Arsal witnessed a fierce battle in August between the Lebanese and jihadists from the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State (IS) group.

The fighting left scores of soldiers, civilians and jihadists dead. The gunmen kidnapped Lebanese troops and policemen as they withdrew towards the town's mountainous region.

Two of the kidnapped troops have since been beheaded, despite attempts carried out by Qatar to solve the hostage crisis.
