Citizen from Tripoli killed in Syria's Kobani

Reports stated on Monday that a Lebanese man known as Abou Sajda, who hails from the northern city of Tripoli has been killed while fighting alongside members from the Islamic State in the Syrian border town of Kobani.

The Islamic State's offensive on Kobani and nearby Syrian villages has killed more than 800 people since mid-September.

The Sunni extremists captured dozens of Kurdish villages and control parts of Kobani.

Many Lebanese fighters, mainly from northern Lebanon, have joined IS fighters in Syria and Iraq.

Jihadi recruitment in impoverished Sunni areas of northern Lebanon is on the rise, and black Islamic State group flags fly freely in some areas, reflecting the growing support for the radical group.
