MP Atef Majdalani to LBCI: A national committee for food safety should be formed
MP Atef Majdalani said on Saturday that the Lebanese leaders must draft a food safety law to deal with the food corruption dossier in the country.

Majdalani's comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show whereby he reiterated his support to the campaign launched by Minister of Health Wael Abou Faour against the violating supermarkets and restaurants.

He also noted that the campaign should cover all Lebanese regions, adding that a national committee for food safety should be formed to monitor every stage of the food.

Yesterday, Minister Abou Faour referred the food safety scandal to the public prosecutor, asking Minister of Interior Nohad Machnouq to shut down three violating firms in Beirut and its southern suburbs.

Last Tuesday, Abou Faour announced that some popular restaurants and supermarkets are serving customers food contaminated with bacteria and other inedible substances.
