Change and Reform Bloc MP Alain Aoun stated on Sunday that a new president will not be elected if new factors pertaining to the election did not emerge.
“Electing a president directly from the people is a chance to give Christians the choice of choosing a head of state,” MP Aoun told LBCI’s Nharkom Said.
MP Aoun added that deputies will either reach an agreement pertaining to the election of a president, amend the constitution to grant people the right of electing a president, or will have to hold the parliamentary elections.
He also noted that Change and Reform Bloc MPS would attend the session aimed at electing a new president if the electoral battle was only between Lebanese Forces Chief Samir Geagea and Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun.
