Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil stressed on Tuesday that Lebanon is not involved in any kind of terrorism, slamming any links between any groups with any terrorism activities occurring in the world.
Bassil, who is currently visiting the Argentine capital Buenos Aires, told reporters that “Lebanon rejects any form of terrorism,” considering it a victim of terror.
The FM said during a joint press conference with his Argentinian counterpart Hector Timerman that Lebanon is seeking the truth regarding the 1994 AMIA (Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina) attacks in Argentina, which was largely blamed on Hezbollah.
The bombing, which was Argentina's deadliest attack ever, killed 85 people and left hundreds injured.
Bassil also met with House Speaker Julian Dominguez who stressed the importance of the integration between the Lebanese and Argentinians, citing the presence of Argentinian MPs from Lebanese origins.
He voiced hope that Lebanon would succeed in its battle against terrorism.
Chief of the Cabinet of Ministers Jorge Capitanich discussed with Bassil the possibility of facilitating visas for Lebanese nationals, improving trade, increasing investments and cultural exchange.
The FM also met with Health Minister Juan Luis Manzur, who is of Lebanese descent.
