Syrian gunfire hits Lebanese fishing boats off al-Arida, 3 fishermen detained
Syrian coast guards on Wednesday morning opened fire at fishing boats owned by Lebanese nationals who hail from al-Arida town, the state-run National News Agency reported.

“Gunfire hit a boat owned by Fadi H. from the Arida town,” the agency said, noting that no casualties were reported.

Syrian coast guards also captured one of the boats, owned by Khaled Hassan al-Rashidi, pulling it inside the Syrian territorial waters.

Al-Rashidi, accompanied by Bashir al-Meshmeshani and an unidentified Palestinian national, were all taken with the boat inside the Syrian territories.

Al-Rashidi’s family called on the concerned authorities to release the detainees along with the boat, threatening to block roads if they fail to do so.
