Lebanon’s Education Minister orders closure of schools amid heavy snow storm

Lebanon's Education Minister Elias Bou Saab on Friday warned private schools against resuming classes Saturday, saying violators will be prosecuted.

The minister urged parents and students alike not to heed calls by schools administrations that violate his order of closure, citing bitter cold and risk of slides and flooding.

On Thursday, Minister Bou Saab announced the closure of all public and private schools Friday and Saturday due to the storm “Windy” that has swept across the country.

Also on Friday, Health Minister Wael Abou Faour ordered the closure of daycares Saturday as the snow storm continues to hit Lebanon for the third consecutive day with snowfall forcing the closure of several roads and causing material damages.
