Former minister El-Khoury: We want a president capable of uplifting the country and safeguarding its borders

Former minister Nazem el-Khoury said on Sunday that the current Lebanese political formula is threatened by the ongoing presidential vacuum.

“We want a president who is capable of uplifting the country and safeguarding its borders,” he added.

El-Khoury’s comments were made during an interview with Nharkom Said TV show in which he ruled out the possibility of electing a new president in case the US and Iran reached an agreement over Tehran’s nuclear file.

El-Khoury concluding by stressing that the strong presidential is the consensual one.

Lebanon has been plunged into a presidential vacuum since President Michel Sleiman’s mandate ended last May.
