Merhebi urges Lebanese people to pressure politicians into electing president
Former MP Talal El Merhebi on Friday slammed attempts to transfer the powers of a president to cabinet ministers amid the current presidential vacuum.

In an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said TV Show, Merhebi stressed the need to elect a powerful Christian president “which serves Lebanon and the whole Middle East region”.

“Politicians were capable of electing a new head of state but lost their chance and left the presidential issue in the hands of foreign powers,” Merhebi said, adding “the Lebanese people should stage popular movements in order to pressure the politicians into electing a president".
