The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs declared that the Central Emergency Response Fund has allocated an amount of USD 18 million to support the projects that come within the framework of Lebanon’s plan to respond to the crisis.
This financial support is set to ensure a comprehensive package of health services, water supply, sanitation services, personal hygiene and food security, in order to meet the urgent humanitarian needs of nearly 297 thousand of the most vulnerable Lebanese, Syrian and Palestinian nationals and to boost their ability to cope with the ongoing repercussions of the Syrian crisis.
In this regard, the UN Resident Coordinator in Lebanon Ross Mountain said that “this grant from the central fund constitutes an important contribution to fill the funding gaps in Lebanon, which is now on the brink of a catasrophe due to the Syrian war.”
