Lebanese army arrests 14 Syrian refugees in Zgharta
The state-run National News Agency reported on Friday that the Lebanese Armed Forces arrested 14 Syrian refugees in the northern district of Zgharta over lack of identity papers and "other suspicions.”

The agency added that an army unit raided the Syrian refugee camps in the villages of Arjes, Kfar Shakhna and Daraya.

The army has launched nearly daily raids against Syrian refugee camps in north and east Lebanon , over suspicion that some may be host to militants.

On Thursday, the Lebanese Armed Forces arrested 10 Syrian nationals in the Bekaa region of Majdal Anjar, and seized weapons and ammunition.

This comes in line with a security plan underway since several months in the Bekaa in a bid to crackdown on criminals in a region known to be a safe haven for car-theft gangs and drug dealers, as well as rings that kidnap in exchange for ransom.

Earlier this week, a new security plan had been launched in Beirut’s Southern Suburbs, conducting motorized patrols and setting up checkpoints to inspect vehicles.
