FPM chief Aoun says Lebanon’s cabinet “toppled” National Pact
Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun said on Thursday “the government did not honor the constitution and the laws,” noting that it has started to act as a “dictatorial” cabinet.

“Mistakes are being repeatedly committed and this time through the extension of the army chief’s mandate rather than the appointment of someone who deserves it,” Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Aoun said after his bloc’s extraordinary meeting.

MP Aoun also accused the cabinet of “toppling the National Pact,” saying “the government is acting in an illegitimate manner, which gives us the right to confrontation.”

“It’s time to tell the Lebanese people what’s going on. The behavior of some ministers and deputies is jeopardizing the country,” Aoun said.

He also warned against “the scale of hazards threatening the presence of Christians in Lebanon,” stressing that a firm stance will be taken to address them.
