George al-Rif’s wife calls on Minister Rifi not to abandon their case

Justice Minister Ashraf Rifi denounced the murder of George al-Rif in Beirut’s Ashrafieh, noting that this is an unjustifiable act. He said that he will give the public prosecution and the investigative judges the appropriate instructions to hasten the probe into the crime.

When receiving the family members of the victim, Rifi asked “not to politicize the crime,” stressing the need to trust the State’s authority and its duty in protecting the people.

For her part, al-Rif’s wife thanked the justice minister for the meeting, stressing her trust in him, calling on him not abandon this case.

George al-Rif died on Thursday of wounds he sustained in a road rage attack that took place Wednesday evening. The dispute occurred on the backdrop of a traffic incident between him and another driver, identified as Tarek Yatim, who stabbed the victim repeatedly leaving him in a critical condition before passing away one day later.
