Minister of Environment Mohammad Mashnouq asserted on Wednesday that the stance taken by "You Stink" campaign activists is targeting “the wrong person.” Mashnouq’s comments were made following a meeting with Prime Minister Tammam Salam whereby he stressed that he will continue “to shoulder his responsibility as a part of the current government.” “We carried out our duties as our conscience dictates and will continue to do so within the set frames,” he added. Riot police cleared “You Stink” campaign demonstrators from the Environment Ministry in Downtown Beirut on Tuesday after activists entered the building and staged a peaceful sit-in, demanding the minister’s resignation over the protracted garbage crisis.
