Minister Abou Faour orders closure of 35 pharmacies and clinics
Health Minister Wael Abou Faour stated on Thursday that corruption has become intolerable especially now that it has reached the health sector, pointing out that 35 pharmacies and policlinics will be closed.
“These pharmacies and clinics are taking advantage of the people’s suffering,” Abou Faour said.
 
In this regard, the minister emphasized that the decision to shut down pharmacies is not subject to negotiations.
 
Health Minister Wael Abou Faour has been launching a campaign against corruption detected in restaurants and supermarkets in regards to food safety standards, and has made public several lists of violating restaurants and supermarkets underscoring the types of unfit foods being sold.
 
Following the food corruption scandal, the Health Ministry has touched on a new file, ordering the closure of many beauty centers that operate without official supervision, as well as pharmacies and medical clinics.
 
The minister, who has received the support of many political forces, vowed to push ahead with his campaign, and stressed the need to protect the Lebanese citizens against any type of contamination.
