During a mass held in Bkirki, Patriarch Rai said that “the Lebanese state is on the verge of collapse because of those who are either directly or indirectly responsible for the presidential vacuum.”
Lebanese MPs have failed so far to elect a new president over lack of quorum, after the mandate of President Michel Sleiman ended in May 2014.
Vacuum striking the presidential post since May is having bad repercussions on the cabinet and the parliament as the Lebanese state is threatened with further crises over ongoing disputes between the rival parties.
