Bourj al-Barajneh twin blasts arouse series of international reactions

A double suicide attack hit on Thursday (November 12) Beirut’s southern suburb, triggering a series of international reactions condemning the terrorist attack that left more than 40 martyrs and 200 injured.

U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon condemned the attacks, urging Lebanon's security services and state institutions "not to allow this despicable act to destroy the relative calm that has prevailed in the country over the past year."

The United States also denounced the terrorist operation claimed by the Islamic State, describing it as “sordid.”

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered his condolences to House Speaker Nabih Berri over the martyrs of Bourj al-Barajneh twin bombings, stressing that “Moscow is ready to cooperate with Beirut to combat terrorism.”

For his part, French President Francois Hollande decried “the seamy act” that hit Beirut’s southern suburb, as he said.

This as Turkey expressed its full support for Lebanon and its people.
