Mikati lauds spirit of sportsmanship during World Cup match

PM Najib Mikati lauded the spirit of sportsmanship that prevailed in the World Cup Qualification match that took place Sunday, congratulating the Qatari team on his win.

Mikati also congratulated the Lebanese team “that gave an outstanding performance and showed high athletic competence that measures up to [the status] of Lebanon, its people and audience.”

During his meeting with Youth and Sports Minister Faisal Karami, Mikati confirmed that Lebanese football fans have liven up to the high national responsibility and have dissipated fears that recently emerged on the possibility that fans may cause chaos at the game.

Mikati also met with Minister of Justice Shakib Qortbawi where both discussed the files of the detained Islamists. Following his meeting with the Premier, Qortbawi said that the reading of the arrested Islamists will begin soon, and that a decree to appoint the five members of the Supreme Judicial Council will be issued in the next two days.

The Premiere also discussed the latest regional developments with Ministers Marwan Kheireddine, deputy PM Samir Mokbel and Minister of Communications Nicolas Sehnaoui
